It's been around a month in my area of Texas since they started pushing masks. I've seen nearly total mask compliance here despite the liberals screaming that there isn't because they saw someone walking outside 50 feet from anyone without one.
Yet, there's been no drop in their cases. If these things make so much difference shouldn't there have been a sharp drop off at some point?
I've just seen zero real world evidence that these mask mandates help at all.
Masks are meant to enslave your mind. Masks are meant to break your spirit. Masks are the first step towards Hell on Earth.
This isn't a great line of attack, the flawed reasoning is assuming its all or nothing.
Imagine the masks reduce your likelihood of getting covid by 50%. That is nothing to shake a stick at, by all means put on the mask. But going out in public also increases your likelihood of getting it so by all means stay inside. That's essentially the logic you have to debate which is about decreasing probabilities of transmission rather than an all or nothing masks work / don't work.
So it seems fair to maybe open up some, but not all businesses? Outdoor seating only for now?
Sure, people should just calculate their own risks and do what they feel is best. I'd maybe recommend wearing a mask because it's better probabilities but making people wear it is just... Unamerican.

I've started perusing the 'hard science' for masks. Most are bad science. One is a biased UK researcher writing a study in 'narrative form', whatever the fuck that is. Another showed that families that wore masks (in China) were less likely to pass Covid to one another, no benefit however after one family member got sick. Who the fuck wheres masks with their family at home (outside of immuno-compromised homes)?

The masks are not perfectly effective, which is why we still need lockdowns. But being imperfectly effective is not the same thing as having no effect.

I don’t hear enough about asymptomatic transmission. Masks don’t work if you don’t even have the virus to begin with. I want to know if asymptomatic transmission is a real risk, because as far as I know, it is not.
