Im really conflicted on it because I believe in marriage... but once I nearly married someone and it took me EIGHT years to figure out they had a nasty Cluster B Personality disorder... that's the family of related mental disorders which includes Sociopathy, Antisocial, Narcissistic, Borderline... you know all the fucking murderously unstable psychopathic chameleons.
Eight years it took him to finally show that side and become physically abusive and begin to try to mentally torture me... in earnst... like military style sleep deprivation torture and like that. Eight. Years. Something in him flipped like a switch and he went from loving me to HATING me, and I mean hating in a way where someone WANTS you to stay so they can torture you some more. A very sick and twisted kind of hate.
Eight years!!!! For eight years I was with one person, and then suddenly I woke up one day to another much much worse person.
So I get kind of prickly when people are mega-hardline about "no divorce". You'll never get someone who has been a battered wife to agree that all divorce is sin. That's one of the reasons I fundamentally object to Catholicism. At some point, it is cruelty to say that a woman is trapped with the man who may well one day kill her, directly or indirectly, if she can't get out.
Please don't mischaracterize the Catholic Church. Annulments are available for abused spouses. Sorry for your suffering. Daughter is in a similar situation...
I still believe that God is first in a marriage, but I’m not going for three. I’m extremely happy these days tho!
