Same thing with people who wear Pink Floyd dark side of the moon shirts. I ask them what they think about The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and 9/10 ask what's that.
I just learned about this song. Joey was actually a bit of a lefty. Johnny was based AF. When Joey wrote "Bonzo Goes to Bitburg" Johnny was pissed because it was taking a shot at Reagan. That said, Johnny knew it was a well written song and agreed to release it with the alternate title "My Brain is Hanging Upside Down".
What? I listen to the Ramones a lot and am not aware of this (but I tend to focue on self-titled through End of the Century). I'll have to look this up. Also, Johnny's autobiography "Commando" is excellent.
EDIT: just learned it was a Joey solo track which explains why I missed it.
This song is by my favorite punk musician. He started out super far lefty, but seems to have backed of a bit from that. This song basically shits all over communists and seems pretty relevant to all the chaos right now.
If people listened to and learned from others' experiences, we'd long have Star Trek-like "communism" or whatever "-ism" but humans, en masse, are still about as dumb as they were thousands of years ago. Imagine how much the current state of affairs in the US boggles the minds of any sort of marxism derivative survivors?
I played in a punk band a few years back, my my band mates and label told me I could not be vocal about my support for trump, because it would ruin their image and they didn’t want to get canceled.
One time we pulled up to a venue and there was a big “fuck trump” poster in the window and I pointed and laughed and said “wtf is this shit?”
The label owner quickly scoffed turned to me and said “it’s called free speech” .. hilarious.
.... I no longer associate with that band or label
As both a fan and a performer of punk music, I can't for the life of me understand how any punk fans could choose the Democrats over Trump.
How do you spend so long singing about how fucked the government is, about politicians being corrupt, about useless wars, and all manner of other issues, and then turn around and call Trump the problem rather than the establishment?
How do you build a community that's about individualism and treating everyone with respect regardless of their physical differences, and then turn around and support this Democrat "identity politics" bullshit that encourages you to treat race and gender and all manner of other traits as something that's supposed to dictate how you treat a person?
I've been saying this for years.... The kids these day who think they are soo 'alt' are the mainstream and don't even realize it. It's not punk rock to have purple hair anymore it's trendy AF. Piercings, strange clothes, tattoos... all the corporate brands push it now, being 'weird' in 2020 is like being a jock in the 50's
I was super into punk rock when I was a teen, I still have that spirit, a few years ago I died my hair back to my natural blonde and started wearing modest dresses because where I was living in my social groups, it was punk rock to look normal.
I'm totally self aware of how odd my situation is lol. As a side effect I feel much better than I ever did, turns out being your natural self and not dressing like an attention whore feels great!
Had a douche bag on what's left of my fagbook saying yesterday that he disavowes the misfits now because of their 2nd singer basically say that white people should be proud of their ancestors accomplishments. I've always been more of a danzig misfits fan but after seeing that maybe I'll go check out more of the graves era stuff
I feel like a heel for sometimes thinking this- but it's almost better that Joe Strummer passed when he did. He'd likely have gone to the dark side these days
Former punk checking in here, if they really knew what ACAB meant... I recently got into a twitter argument about the meaning with somebody that had it in their handle. Quoted GG Allin's Kill the Police and they told me that it's not about killing police... what a bunch of dumbasses
Johnny Ramone was a conservative, Joey, a liberal. They made awesome fucking music. I saw them on the Adios Amigos 97 tour. My favorite part was when they played that song that starts "One...two...three...four!"
to be honest i never was much of a Ramones guy, but this makes me want to listen to a song from them. Any of the frog folk have a good Ramones song i should listen to ?
PS it turns out that for the exception of Beethoven (who was black i heard the other day lol) most of my favorite musicians are npc dickwads, even Roger Waters, who once sang "We dont need no education"
"We dont need no mind control"
is now a controlled asshole, and surprise he doesn't look like a lanky troll when he gets older , ya probably Adrenochrome.
This is what counterculture and punk, IS.
Conservatism is the new counterculture. This site is DDoS'd daily, the cucks aren't the rebels.
👍🇺🇲
Nah, they wear Ramones shirts but don't know anything. Like the opposite of how they wear Che shirts but don't know he'd murder all of them.
I wonder which band attracts more posers that wear the shirts but don't listen to the music: the Ramones or Iron Maiden?
Whenever I see someone wearing a Ramones shirt these days, I'm half-tempted to walk up and ask "What's your favorite album?"
"What's your favorite album?"
"Best of The Ramones"
Album? At best it's like 2 songs on their Spotify playlist haha
Same thing with people who wear Pink Floyd dark side of the moon shirts. I ask them what they think about The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and 9/10 ask what's that.
i have a Selena shirt I think is hilarious.
I would do anything for Salinas!
I bet they hate that song about Maria Bartiromo
Anyone who writes a love song about Maria Bartaromo is based AF.

I must look that song up!
Result of 2020, so far.. "I Wanna Be Sedated".
Real punk rock hates commies more than anything. Real Americans hate commies more than anything. Only commies refuse to hate commies.
This song is by my favorite punk musician. He started out super far lefty, but seems to have backed of a bit from that. This song basically shits all over communists and seems pretty relevant to all the chaos right now.

Former punk, current Trump supporter here.
comrade, in 2020, closed-minded and discriminatory IS the new open minded and non-discriminatory
Current punk, current trump supporter.
Hell yeah.
I grew up as a punk rocker in the USSR. Guess what my opinion of "Socialist Soviet", marxism, leninism, stalinist, maoism, etc. is?

I dig it.
The irony of today’s “punk rocker“ is they wear symbols of anarchy and support communism. A true Anarchist would be voting Libertarian.
Shilling in the name of.
Jello on the other hand.....
What a poser.
Dead Kennedys suck.
That jackass was a thief, too. He shafted old bandmates out of royalties.
I do have to chuckle whenever I hear, "it's the suede-denim secret police" and "die on organic poison gas," though.
Jello has always been against any type of authority... so at least he's consistent

Dude was yay Hillary. Fuck that dude.

Also, Lydon and company have been calling out filthy old perverts for over four decades:

I’m a metal head and I say kill all these commies and let Satan sort them out.

It boggles my mind, man. I just don't get it.
This was my exact logic with Noam Chomsky.
The gender confused hipsters of today do not realize that they are tools of the cultural and banking elite. The Ramones weren't the tool of anyone

Ramones would have totally been based. Their song "Mama's Boy" predicted Antifa.
I'm not an animaaaal!
Fucking bloody mess
Never trust a Punk that thinks total government control is the way to go.
Kill a commie for mommy
Based Ramones. No commies will be buried in a pet cemetery.

Democrats ARE the establishment.
I grew up a punk rock skater from DC. Fuck Fugazi and the Straightedge artsy jocks. Who are the real harDCore kids?!! -The MAGA boys!
Here's another; Glenn Danzig: https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/7809848/glenn-danzig-trump-travel-ban-planned-parenthood
And the real punk rockers love it!
Its part of my religion

Not really "punk", but Moe Tucker from the Velvet Underground was red-pilled about 10 years ago: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2010/oct/20/moe-tucker
