So I finally got called by a polling place for the first time. I answered a few questions all supporting Trump. She said she had to put me on hold to talk to her supervisor. A minute or so later she comes back, apologized like 4 times, and hung up on me. Im not making this shit up. It was really weird.

I was contacted last week. I answered the exact opposite of everything I believe. I told them Biden and Democrat for literally every answer.
They kept me on the phone for nearly an hour.

The only time my number was called they specifically asked to speak to a registered Democrat. My wife was at the time. Had something to do with program funding cuts for some bullshit.

Somewhat tangential, but in my Democrat stronghold of a neighborhood, I had a young woman come to my door before the mid-terms soliciting donations for their local Dem candidates. Anyway, I listened to her spiel and politely declined and we chatted for a few minutes. Can't remember the whole convo but basically I told her I was more of a conservative, explained a bit about what I think and that I wasn't interested in donating money to the DNC. I think I mentioned something about how the DNC hemorrhages money and that as an adherent of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace program, I don't think I want people like that determining how much I pay in taxes or where that money goes. But overall I was pleasant and polite and I enjoyed talking to her.
She admitted that I kind of blew her expectations of who conservatives are and that I was nicer to her than most of the Democrats she saw that day. The way she reacted telegraphed that she has some very ham-fisted ideas of who her opposition is. I think for sure she assumes we're all some sort of tone deaf rednecks or something instead of what you get at my house, which is a very liberal-seeming, creative, professional, upper middle class couple in a Craftsman bungalow. If not for my flag out front and my truck with a couple military logo stickers, you'd think we totally fit in with the Bernie supporting "progressives" (Marxists) who populate the neighborhood. Given that this describes literally all of my right-leaning friends as well, it's kind of funny that the stereotype even persists.
Wish I could have really gone in depth with her as it felt like a great opportunity to build a bridge and maybe get one of their foot soldiers off the streets (lol) but I had a house full of family in town that day and had to get back to it. Kind of wanted her to come back and wished I'd asked her to, because she was nice and reasonable too and that kind of discourse is how you make progress.
To be totally fair, I am guilty of making assumptions too. I work with a woman who looks every bit the retarded social justice warrior, with the bad magenta hair, problem glasses and everything else. She's actually the sweetest person on our entire team, hard-working, honest, and is basically best friends with her good ol' boy Dad, which for me is the biggest signal a woman can give me about herself. She's also into woodworking of all things. Her ideal man, according to her, is Ron Swanson. So there you go I guess. I wouldn't assume she's a conservative or even libertarian or anything, but it also doesn't matter, given that she is tight with her family, has principles and morals, and tries to be a good person. (To also be totally fair, the majority of the people I personally know who look like this actually ARE insufferable, humorless little commies, so there's that.)

My cousin worked for a survey place during the 2016 election and he knew Trump was going to win. He said a lot of the callers said they wouldn't vote for a woman. Right or wrong, we all know hill-dawg was not a women but really the embodiment of pure evil.
