I'll say it again: One of the reasons communism fails is because its adherents always try to erase history and they refuse learn from their predecessors' mistakes.
Bad ideas can be made good with learning from past mistakes.
In the case of communism/socialism the only way it works is if you have a VERY small (less than 100, probably less than 50, maybe even 25) homogeneous community that disallows outsiders, and even that falls apart after a generation or two.
Source on this: Some of the pre-US colonies on the Eastern Seaboard that tried communal storehouses. The whole thing fell apart as more people arrived and realized they didn't have to work and could still get fed.
Well, yeah... hence my opinion that socialism is a failed, stupid idea from the start. I may have believed it could work for about a year, when I was 17 years old.
Then reality took over for me, thank God!
