Congrats and smart move. I personally don't trust teachers anymore. And if there are good teachers out there, where's their voice? Why do they stay in a union that endorses cop killing?

I am going to 100% hell no to indoctrination

Considering what has been done to the curriculum and policies I don’t see any other option. Just make sure you try to socialize them as much as possible. Some of those homeschooled kids can be pretty quirky and/or standoffish.

That's awesome! You will love it and so will your kids, they will be fine. I was homeschooled my entire life, I'm 25 now, and had tons of fun with friends and my family.

for sure! no way going to same school as them idiots!

100% yes. You pretty much have to. The one spending so many hours a day with them is the one instilling their values into them.

We've been thinking about it when our kids hit middle school. Our county is pretty based though as we are in the burbs where it is solid red Pro Trump. If I lived in a major metro we'd absolutely home school. my wife is a former teacher and she wouldn't send them to public school where she used to teach.

You will be surprised how much support is out there from things like athletic associations to resource teachers you can hire for group classes on subjects that you are not up to speed on teaching yourself.

Home schooled guy here - all through grade school and high school - mom was teacher. She had no college degree. End of the story: MBA, fortune 100 company manager, doctor for a little brother (also home schooled). Get Saxon math!! DO IT!

There are something I think they called school pods where groups of 5-10 families join together . There were supposed to be lots of group on FB

many homeschool groups have what are called co-ops. Classiacl Conversations, the program that most at my church use, meets once a wk at our church. This group, in addition to tutoring in special subjects, is where kids interact, and, they have baseball teams, ballet, orchestra, ecology outdoor education, and so forth. These activities of course take place during the week. LOTS of social interaction.

Everyone here should homeschool their children.

When you said your kid to school you are letting the enemy indoctrinate them 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Seriously bad idea if you want your son to grow up right.

If you do send them to a school make sure to check out the curriculum they are trying to brainwash our kids. Don't let them.

Seriously considering it. It's been a topic in my house a lot lately. My daughter is 8 and with the mask mandate in Ohio for 10 and up, we would have pulled her out. We'll see how it goes.

Your kids will grow up very weird if they do not have friends other than themselves and their mother/father. So if you homeschool my only advice is to make sure that they also have the opportunity that most get in school to make friends. Or they will grow up like Zuckerberg

Lol. They just said they're homeschooling... Not sure why that equals not being members of society any longer. I hate this stereotype.

7
PaigeAshley 7 points ago +7 / -0

Right?! I was homeschooled my whole life, so were many of my friends. We are all outgoing, smart, hardworking and are well balanced individuals!

JustTheNews 2 points ago +4 / -2

it is not an unfounded stereotype, i used to date a chick who was homeschooled, and my cousins are homeschooled. They had no friends growing up expect for the ones their mothers gave them who were friends of their friends, I am all for homeschooling, but a social life, and making friends naturally instead of arranged friends is key to a healthy mind. You need people to challenge your ideas, otherwise you get adults who grow up and have issues like social anxiety (from experience). The army is what saved me. Stereotypes are there for a reason. They do not just fall from the sky.

jamesgallden 5 points ago +5 / -0

Maybe in the 80s and 90s this was the case, largely not now.

1
JustTheNews 1 point ago +3 / -2

what is different?

5
Matthew419 5 points ago +5 / -0

There are homeschool groups now that do things like joint recess, field trips and outings with other homeschooled kids in the area.

3
leonine6 3 points ago +3 / -0

Homeschool co-ops. They are great!

4
jamesgallden 4 points ago +4 / -0

I'd say it's because a lot more people homeschool now than in the 80s and 90s.

0
JustTheNews 0 points ago +2 / -2

Maybe, but it is not like every homeschooler knows each other. I generally find that most homeschoolers are pretty tight knit, and do not socialize that much except with a few people. either way, I am for it all I said was make sure they have the opportunity to make their OWN friends.

I follow a lot of successful entrepenuers and business instagram accounts.

They say this.

A college education will get you a job. Self education can get you a fortune.
