We haven't fought back. The only way we lose is if we don't fight. So far the consensus opinion has been we don't join the fight, yet. We've seen some good things come from this strategy:

We could even hope it means black people don't want us all dead. I don't think we should entertain any possibility that blm doesn't try to shut down voting locations in November. In Tulsa they showed us exactly what they plan on doing.
Feds have begun making arrests, even where local and State governments have refused. I think DJT gets the idea that if they don't, there will be a bloodbath. Legal charges has historically been the main deterrent against crime. The claim that death is no deterrent is bogus. Dead men commit no crimes.
If we decided to enter this fight we could make Krystallnacht look like a girl's slumber party. It could be over in one night, not really a Civil War. That wouldn't take the cities though.
