Yeah I can't like quantify what exactly the morphological differences are but I can discern mainland China versus Korean versus Japanese with pretty good reliability.
Seeing the patterns to some extent makes some reasonable amount of sense sometimes, but they don't expect "pretty good reliability", the expect total accuracy at all times. This is impossible due to mixed blood. You cannot get this 100% correct every time just by looks
