Yup. Ask me to wear a mask to help my fellow citizens and I'll wear it more often. Force me under penalty of fine/prison and I'll wear it as little as possible. Just enough to not be fined/arrested.
Ask me to wear a SPECIFIC type/level mask with hard data proving its efficacy and usefulness to protect those around me as well as myself and I'll happily strap that puppy on every day.
Demand I wear ANY kind of covering under penalty in the absence of data and logic and... well... you have our current situation.

In response to our mayor's mask mandate, I have a friend who has decided to wear a plague doctor mask; something that is ridiculous and that we know has no effect in stopping disease, but 100% meets the requirements of the mask order.
Is it absolutely ridiculous? Yes. Buuuut it keeps her out of trouble, and it drives the point home to everyone around her that she knows this is ridiculous.

Im the same way but my boyfriend's parents are boomer age and watch TV all the time. I catch a glance every now and then. No wonder his mom believes in COVID.

But threaten me with prison unless I do what you say? Then I start standing up for my rights. I wish I was strong enough to get arrested and challenge the local orders on Constitutional grounds, but I don't have spare tens of thousands of dollars to fight a long court case.

I've been wanting to buy one of those! I've been trying to decide whether to just get the mask alone, or buy the whole getup (cloak, hat, etc)

A large part of the problem is the mask mob trying shame anyone that follows the science which says they don’t really do anything when outside.
