The one that never fails to boil my blood is ignoring the difficult question and babbling out a smokescreen, instead. It's as pathetically obvious as a cat trying to bury his shit in a linoleum floor.
I understand that from salespeople or even sales engineers. Papering over product faults and painting the nicest picture is what they're programmed to do. But hands-on techs/admins/devs and even managers pull it nowadays.
Interrupting and politely but firmly saying, "What I asked was. . . " is received like a physical assault.
Reacting as if I am giving the third degree opens the door for me to start.
