This was an immediate response in early June. The fact that there hasn't been anything else since gives me hope. NHL was about the only sport that didn't have anyone kneel last time. I'm hoping they learn from watching the backlash that's happening to other sports and don't go down that road. That said, if they start kneeling too then I'm done with them.
I've been a Caps fan since 1986. Holtby is generally a good goalie, but his politics have always pissed me off. The only tweet I saw from Ovi was expressing sorrow for Floyd's death and condolences for his family, but he didn't actually add #BlackLivesMatter at the end. But I'm not on Twatter so I may have just missed it in a later post.
Also, the NHL has had to fight for its US audience.
Every lockout or strike has really hurt their following here, much more so than for the NBA, MLB, or NFL. Kneeling or otherwise protesting the US during games will alienate the few that consistently stick with them.
