No thanks. My parents raised us to love this country. And that it is up to us to either succeed or fail.
Reparations was already paid in blood for not only the civil war but all of the British wars for emancipation. Further consider the amount of handouts and cleaning up after crime and dealing with economic pain of people hired based on affirmative action instead of merit. Whites have paid many times over so they are the ones that are owed. Blacks have the best opportunities and highest standard of living here than in anywhere in the world, so long as they keep a job and refrain from crime. There is a certain spoiled brat attitude that will come from helping people too much and this might have been a natural consequence of treating a whole race of people like children. I admire the blacks that have maintained their honor despite that bigotry of low expectations and I admire those that have chosen to succeed instead of blame others.
The US currently spends $1.12 Trillion per year on welfare and associated means-tested benefits. That's $1120 Billion. The average benefit per recipient is about $20,000 per year.
If you take the "reparations" program offered by the US, you first must sign an acknowledgement that you will NEVER again be eligible for ANY means-tested benefits, federal or federally-subsidized state benefits. No AFDC (welfare/food stamps), no government housing, no medicaid, no preferential hiring, no WIC. Not. One. Dime. For the rest of your life.
So, assuming 50% of those eligible are on government assistance, that means we are spending $400 Billion to avoid spending $400 Billion. AND, the problem goes away in 30 years instead of recurring.
Fuck off, that's 10% of the average American's livelihood for something nobody alive today contributed to (except for some older Democrats cough Biden)
