The theory of "Project Blue Beam" comes from Quebecois conspiracy theorist Serge Monast who claimed that the United Nations in collaboration with NASA is going to fake the second coming of Jesus Christ in order to invent and control a new religion for the establishment of a satanic new world order. This would apparently be done through the use of holographic images projected on the sky to fake an alien invasion, among other things. Monast believed that entertainment media was being used to condition the movie-going public to accept the possibility of an alien invasion, and critics say that he lifted the entire idea for Project Blue Beam from an unused Star Trek movie script titled "The God Thing."
There is no evidence that I can find which supports Monast's claims, but a holographic lightshow of such a scale seems to be technologically possible and if there was an alien invasion today I'd doubt its veracity.
