'Carmen Best'...

When Seattle needs a LEADER all they have is a 'placeholder'.

Expect bad things there this weekend.

From what I hear, Carmen Best knows what she's up against, but is effectively powerless to do anything, since the police are completely beholden to the communist rule of the city.

She seems to be trying her best to continue to maintain as much order as she's allowed to do. Here's part of the letter she sent to her department officers about the upcoming weekend and the restrictions the council has put on the tools the police can use. Seems she's not going to have them go in with insufficient tools.

"The Council voted 9-0, with no input from the department, to place us in this position. Simply put, I cannot ask any of you to do this work limited only to your sidearm, baton, and body as tools. These are not tools that are reasonable in modern policing for crowd control."

Ehh, sidearm would get the job done with minimum important losses. Ammo is cheap after all. Police need to tell the politicians to eat a dick, then gun down all their minions

Exactly. Seattle cops should be allowed to jump straight to the lethal option when projectiles start flying. Take away their non lethal crowd control, and you get what you ask for. It never fails to amaze me how fast people will comply after the first couple rounds go off.

If Police were to do that they should gun down the politicians, then the minions would get the hint. None of that is going to happen. It's like cops being ordered to abandon the 3rd precinct all over again.

Are feds going to be there to defend Federal property? Maybe letting it all burn is the wiser choice?

That’s actually a really good idea.

I'd love that but do they have any legal grounds?

She's definitely doing the best she can given the crazy city council and incompetent mayor and governor. It's actually a bit like Trump's situation in that she's doing as much as she can to protect people who absolutely hate her.

Also, racist left at it again. A black woman works hard and becomes chief of police of a major city and they attack her.

They only like blacks who tow the line and say and do exactly as they say. Peak racism, if you ask me...

How long is this an excuse though? Are we holding out til November? When do police start ignoring these mayors and governers?

When do police start ignoring these mayors and governers?

That’s what really needs to happen. Politicians have no power without their enforcers.

SPD turning on Durkin would be GLORIOUS.

A better question is who would enforce the city council's decision to remove the police's nonlethal tools? Can't call the cops on the cops...

When they don't have to worry about losing their jobs and pensions.

rentfREEEE_since2016 2 points ago +3 / -1

Why can’t she just tell them to fuck off and do whatever? I would. I would fucking arrest the city council and let me officers do their jobs. Carpet munching alphabet soy children wouldn’t know what to do.

We the People should have physically removed 40+ of our Governors from Office via citizen's arrest on 3/31. Many think that after 5/22, that window of opportunity closed. If we won't do it how can we expect these people within the system to do anything right?

She actually seems pretty good at her job considering the circumstances. The fact that there is any police department at this point is probably due to her leadership, certainly not the city council’s.

Honestly I think she's doing good here by sending out these letters to redpill people. To be fair to her she didn't make the decision, the city clowncil did

What about due process? When was this vote taken? How can it possibly take effect so soon? If both the Mayor and CoP know better, what happens if they simply ignore the unwise council?

Throwawaycuzmeh 13 points ago +14 / -1

This ain't on her.

I'm in Seattle (the part where all the action is), and I think she is doing a good job, I'm surprised we even have a police chief this good here. The people here are a lost cause, they are so far gone and so self righteous that they deserve bad things to happen to them at this point.

Good for her for telling them they are not going to have it both ways.

CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Isn't there a way to tell the council to fuck off and for the Mayor and CoP to uphold their oath of Office, which includes defending the public?
