The crowd tends to be older, they tend to either be tradesmen or have actual careers since you're burning $10 a cigar. Many have military service. I also think cigars are not part of the soy boy culture, same with the paternal left who votes for smoking bans.
Another part of the cigar lounge culture is sitting in a comfy chair and having a conversation with the guys around you. It's easy to start a conversation since you share a hobby. A cigar lasts two hours so there's time to ask questions as well as explain yourself and actually engage in discussion, that alone weeds out people who's worldview is built on a house of cards. Depending on location you can have large percentages of Democrats, but they tend to be the type that can still engage healthily. For example, last year I spent nearly four hours discussing the economic policies of Yang with one guy. It was clear almost all of his knowledge on the subject came from political material. The conversation never broke down, we kept buying each other drinks, and he seemed to leave while genuinely considering a new perspective. It was a very healthy encounter and I've had many like it. Completely different than this insane tribalism destroying the country that treats politics like a religion.

Thank you! Very informative and makes total sense that cigar smokers are not tools. I've noticed but never knew why.
