The existing 'wall' was more like a welcome mat directing the illegal trespasser criminals in to the US.

Just make it 'across the border' and poof, magic welfare and endless exemptions and handouts courtesy of the US taxpayer because 'muh poor wittle immigrants.'

BUILD THAT WALL

Largely, those were vehicle bollards that kept vehicles loaded to the gills from just driving across. Not the ideal abatement, but they were "fucking with the dick they had." It was better than nothing, which in some places, was and still is pretty much it. 5 strands of barbed wire in a lot of places, if that. Hopefully, the wall and adequate enforcement measures really stem the flow of illegals.

Right. And even the new wall won't be 100% effective, but a damn site better than the existing.

Always room to improve like some razor wire up top, and real, useful tech to keep the invaders out.

Changes the whole dynamic, and forces other countries to deal with their shit instead of shipping them here to exploit the hell out of our weakness.

Exactly, as long as we can can reduce the number getting in so that it is a net positive for the country I count it as a win
