Foster parent for five years. I have seen both good and struggling parents separated from their children. The system though abuses the hell out of foster parents, including pressing completely unfounded accusations based on no more than hearsay, and requiring foster parents to protect themselves in a court of law or be placed on black lists, or even registries. I understand the need to protect the children, but when a foster parent doesn't even have the ability to speak in a court of law in their own defense or in the defense of the child (as they are not legally a party to the case in most states despite being the primary guardian), then you know things are royally screwed up.
