Being self employed was my red pill. Have to pay both sides of social security and Medicare. Normally an employer pays half and you pay half, but self employed you pay both sides which at the time was 14% on top of any state and federal taxes. Bullshit how much they take already but that puts it into the lunacy category...and the Democrats want to take even more - pure insanity.

Former CPA here - the number of people who think they didn't pay any tax because they got a refund is shocking. Payroll withholding was a brilliant policy. If people were forced to make a monthly payment, the government would be 1/2 it's current size.
Thats the BEST PART of the 2020 W4 elections. So many eyes have opened. I employ 80. I had 51 people ask to talk to me after the first payroll, despite us announcing the change, putting up posters in break rooms, etc.
REFUNDS DONT MEAN NO TAXES, they mean the govt was holding your money for free for 15 months!
And the media no doubt has conditioned him into thinking that the ONLY PEOPLE fighting for him to keep more of his hard earned money are "old white racists".
