In my state, negligent discharge is pretty much mandatory jail time, upward of 18 months. It's a class 6 felony, which may be the lowest class of felonies, but still results in losing the right to bear arms.
When I was in the military, any discharge that wasn’t intentional and at a target was considered negligent; no such thing as an accidental discharge.
