If you can afford it, buy body armor. Thugs carry rifle rounds that will defeat common "bullet-proof vests". Mayflower APC and Crye JPC are popular plate carriers. Hesco L210 or Level III+ "special threat" plates that go into them will stop most common thug pistol and rifle rounds.

If you can afford more, strap on an IFAK including a CAT tourniquet and perhaps some Quik-clot gauze.

For absolute medical dumbasses like myself, would 100 yards of clotting gauze be worth more than any other whiz-bang gear?

Yeah we can't let this post die 50 comments down here. It's practical first aid advice IN ORDER.

Thank you for writing this up. I was being a smartass and you responded helpfully. Figuring out what medical gear I, an untrained civilian mostly concerned with my family's safety, should keep around (or on my carrier) isn't easy.

I find there are usually 4 kinds of people

  1. people that don't carry anything (the usually bitch about everything)

  2. people who carry guns (larpers are usually here)

  3. people who carry a bleed kit or tourniquet (usually people who have seen some shit)

  4. people who carry both (they are usually kinda quiet)

You should not fuck with people of the fourth kind.

Man knowing how to bandage yourself is such a valuable skill. When I was younger I played a lot of soccer and had a tendency to roll my ankles. I learned how to bandage at an young age and honestly is such a simple but invaluable skill.

Looks like you also need rifle target plate inserts for your door trim.

Stop using so many abbreviations you lazy bastard. We do not know what they mean. JPC? IFAK?

Although it's good advice, most people, especially those commuting through liberal cities and past these "protests," won't ever think about buying or wearing plate armor. It's just not something normal people would do.

Sure, if you're strapping up and gearing up for a possible shootout, you need good body armor, good gear, and emergency medic kit.

I have an AR500 plate and carrier coming soon.

How long was the wait on yours? I have to wait four months.

It took about 6 weeks for the CCW IIRC. But now when I purchase I get approved right then and there; they do run the background check.

As far as body armor goes, 8 week wait. Should be here any time now.

For the plate carrier?
