For absolute medical dumbasses like myself, would 100 yards of clotting gauze be worth more than any other whiz-bang gear?

Yeah we can't let this post die 50 comments down here. It's practical first aid advice IN ORDER.

Thank you for writing this up. I was being a smartass and you responded helpfully. Figuring out what medical gear I, an untrained civilian mostly concerned with my family's safety, should keep around (or on my carrier) isn't easy.

I find there are usually 4 kinds of people

  1. people that don't carry anything (the usually bitch about everything)

  2. people who carry guns (larpers are usually here)

  3. people who carry a bleed kit or tourniquet (usually people who have seen some shit)

  4. people who carry both (they are usually kinda quiet)

You should not fuck with people of the fourth kind.

Try a Stop the Bleed course.

If you want more in depth training, you could look into taking an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) course.
