Maybe but Texas has Stand Your Ground so if he gets a good lawyer he'll stand a chance even in a lib city like Austin. I’d move to get the trial moved out of Travis county and to Williamson up north. Otherwise hope you get a conservative that refuses convict so you hang the jury.
Texas Law Shield. Group of lawyers that ONLY DO gun cases. They have sign ups at every LTC, training, and refresher course I've ever been to in Texas. For like $11 a month they are on 24/hr call. Everyone I've met who seriously carries every day seems to be a member.
Personally, I've only seen/heard them used once for an acquaintance. They were very impressive
