You have two types of people in these riots. The first type of person is the armchair intellectual. They're the type of person that wants to be part of the action to gain fake social points in their in-group. The second, albeit very small minority, is the militant violent agitators. This group is there to spread fear and/or commit acts of violence, vandalism, and harm. There is a ~10:1-ish ratio of armchair intellectuals to violent agitators. Notice the pattern of every one of these riots. As soon as they're met with force and human bodies (clearing the street/block), they scatter like roaches. As soon as there's a firearm discharged, everyone runs for the hills. Not a single person is there to stand and fight, they're there for mayhem and anarchy.
