Twenty-some years ago, I worked it out that two-thirds of every dollar that goes into DC never comes back out. Not as infrastructure, education, disaster relief, military, medicare, social security, or any other identifiable, tangible public expenditure. The money is often reported to have been spent on such things, but nearly all of it goes to bureaucratic salaries and other overheads, usually related to compliance with self-imposed social engineering initiatives. The "Assistant Director for Diversity" kind of crap.

(Thus my sentiments toward public employee unions.)

I don't know what the current ratio is. I doubt it has improved.

We need more studies on this. The theft and slavery known as taxes drives me insane. I can't believe citizens ever allowed it to happen. Now that government is so overly bloated, how do we go back?
