I want to start getting paid to smoke meat so bad...
I love grilling and it's so much better than the bbq spots in my area.
Good for you OP. I also yearn to be free of the mask once again.
I have a friend who is a minister that does bbq on the side. He started doing a big cook about once a month and used our kids school and his church network to sell it. Now he does it about once a week. He does pre-orders starting a week in advance up to the morning before when he buys all the meat. He also does parties.
We all support him of course, but the truth is we buy from him because his bbq is so good.
Thank you. That's a really good idea. I'm going to screenshot this for later. I have a rack of St. Louis ribs going at 225 right now. I'm sitting on the fence about buying a gravity fed masterbuilt grill. That has a big enough capacity that I could smoke a lot of meat.
Pre orders smokey pede. If there are many in your neighborhood/areas of influence that would love to have your smoked meat once a month or more, let them know you are looking at upgrading your current rig & are trying to gage the steady demand for it before deciding on a specific model. Let them know this depends on how many people want to pick up a monthly order or an order every other week. Be sure to ask if they we be interested in a recurring order & if they would commit to it for a year to help make sure you are able to pay off this new investment. This will also help those who believe in you get excited about investing in your success.
This drums up repeat business with those already interested & gets the word out. Some might even ask if they can get it weekly.
Now make sure you are not badgering them, it is more a friendly idea you are tossing around tk decide if upgrading is worth it as far as the conversation goes. The last thing friends need in a forced economic stand down is to feel like a buddy is asking them to commit to a payment when they are worried about their own family's ability to eat. So this is simply a fun idea you are trying to get some help fleshing out as it were.
I hope this helps. I am sure there are a number of business consultant pedes & small business owner pedes that can offer up better advice in the food industry.
Always attempt to go in a place without a mask. You would be surprised how few people make it an issue, and if they do, make fun of them for their mask, ask them for proof that it is approved by the fda for preventing Covid transmission. Print out business cards with faucis statement that masks dont work, and hand them one.
This is an easy one! See if you can team up with local events or even just get a business to let you sell right in their parking lot on the street. Let the food do the advertising for you!
Purchase all the fancy cooking tools you need, like grills, dishes, etc. Buy a truck to haul it all around. Use all of that to begin a rental BBQ service. Have a website where people can submit payment, fill in their address, food they want, whether or not they will supply food, etc. Check each area before going there so you can avoid areas where you might get robbed for your equipment, just ignore those requests. When the business gets big enough, hire a programmer to make an App or just have an app by itself from the beginning. Your app would need to be restricted to your local area so you don't get overwhelmed with requests then bombed negative reviews due to no service. Same for a website, make it local only until you're ready to expand.
Worst case scenario: You have a new truck and a new grill you can use with family and friends.

Yet they repeatedly say trickle down economics don't exist and don't work...
