Some of those kids literally dont have parents and live with their grandparents. If they dont want to send em to school and do the online option we are all offering thats their freedom to do so. I'm all for opening things up but not every child is blessed with a healthy home that can afford to get covid. Just because things are going online doesnt mean its less work for teachers. In fact its a lot fucking harder to teach, have group discussions, turn in/grade work, etc

Yes the market dictates if your not a government worker like a teacher then it how much you bride the politicians with the unions in this case the teacher union. If teacher pay where dictate by the value they produce as job in the private sector are they pay will be close to a day care worker.

Sister teaches special ed and they want her to teach double, in class and a group of students remotely. she doesnt have the time in the day that is needed for both groups. the hybrid model is a mess.
The only rebuttal I have to this would be that the average teacher is probably much older than the average grocery store employee making them more susceptible to this supposed Covid-19 virus.

Teachers are by far the most entitled profession. Sure people may have had some good ones growing up and that's basically what they bank on. Despite that if there is any profession that naturally attracts Karens, it's teaching.
Wouldn't it be great to have a public school where you could drop your kids off at 7am and pick them up at 5pm? The school day could still be 8-3 with a lunch but there'd be before and after school babysitting? Or how about babysitting at the school for all those days that teachers take off during the school year but parents still have to work....? Wouldn't it be nice, if you could still drop the kids off at school and go to work instead of finding babysitters for the one day every two weeks or for the three week vacation around Christmas? Wouldn't it be great if there was a summer program at the schools that offered something more fun over the summer? Like a day camp or something? Or an in school sports camp or art day camp?
If parents were in control, there would be a lot more services tailored for parents. Eventually parents are going to figure out, with a voucher system, competition would make schools cater to the parents rather than the teachers.
