I’m so glad I left Austin. Sometimes I miss the food. I saw the liberal shit storm coming about a decade ago and decided it was time to go.

Austin is my home town too and it is my perfect example of “tech is a cancer”

A little high tech is fine, makes the economy more diverse, pays well etc.

Too much high tech attracts California jackasses and ruins the economy like everywhere is fucking LA

Thankfully we do not have the massive feces problem that some cities do. I think the outhouses at the river parks really help with that

It truly is one of the only things I miss about Austin. And Indian roller a small bar off slaughter and Manchac right across from planet fitness. That was my hangout. We used to spend the evening there after bass fishing all day hitting up our favorite spots all around town lake. You guys are bringing back the memories.

Me, my wife and soon to be 4th child live here, bought a home in Pflugerville 6 years ago

Love Austin but it is a liberal shit show now downtown, used to just be about the art and music which I loved. But Cali came in.

Suburbs with a strong police force

I’m hoping to save some coin and maybe get out closer to a lake somewhere

I lived in South Austin, Manchac and slaughter area. I miss it dearly spent most of my life there and in San Marcos. I was there from the time I was 10 years old till the time I was 31. It’s a wonderful city but it’s not the city it was before. It’s a fake forced shell of what truly did make Austin great. Miss the food though and the outdoor bars.

We came here because there were no prospects where I'm from. you can't live as a family on 2 disability checks, a small retirement pension and a minimum wage job (two disabled family members and another elderly with Alzheimer's). Here we are actually able to save for emergencies.

My previous address was outside pd jurisdiction so emergency services were a joke, the area had shit infrastructure in the way of water and power and internet was a crap shoot. Life fucking sucked there. Here I found a job that pays 25% more AND I get tips. Woulda never found that previously.

Same bullshit but way higher quality of life. I won't complain. Where I'm from was a liberal shithole too.

Was there in college from 2007 through 2011 and it was awesome. It's an overpriced shithole now.

AKM*

8
ReligionOfPoop 8 points ago +9 / -1

That is how the retarded one referred to it as.

If not an AK-47, what was it?

0
Tx50bmg 0 points ago +1 / -1

Looks like an AKM, which is semi-auto only.

7
T-Bear 7 points ago +7 / -0

Well, you might want to get all technical about it, but to most people and in the news, it is an AK-47.

Not because I'm right, but because that's what the LARPer boi himself called it moments before he got shot while shooting a car with that rifle.

Linky: https://thedonald.win/p/GbfSm4aA/video-protestor-garrett-foster-m/c/

That's what is in the news, whether technically correct or not.

I’m aware of what the larper and the “news” said, it’s the equivalent of calling any AR an “M-16.” It’s dishonest and fear-mongering, I expect nothing less from the media:

I thought AK 47's were only owned by law abiding conservatives??

1
bigdickhangsright 1 point ago +1 / -0

This guy was probably a commie that loved the AK47 since it was originally produced in a treacherous environment that he longed so much for.

It started as a safe space for liberal country musicians, no?

17
Comanche_Moon 17 points ago +17 / -0

I think it started in the 60s when the wannabe hippie kids were flocking to the University of Texas. Restaurants and hippie stores opened to cater to them. The area around there was a huge attraction as everyone knew about "Hippie Hollow" where bathing suits were optional at the lake. The police used to be really tough and busted the long hairs on a regular basis. The musicians followed the kids. The real boom hit when all the tech companies started moving that way to escape Cali's high taxes. Now, its an ultra liberal mess known as Little California.

Seems a bit harsh to blame it on California when this area was well on its way to becoming what it is now.

14
Comanche_Moon 14 points ago +14 / -0

Yes, Austin was always liberal because of the University but the California tech companies brought tons of money into the town and a lot of Cali attitudes about everything. I don't blame them for looking for a more tax friendly place to do business in, but I do blame them for their massive block of liberal voting they brought with them.

Well it wasn't an all black rifle, so it's not as scary. You know, if Osama used it, it must be okay.

I live in the greater Austin area and God knows the crazy liberals here are spinning this story. Its just going to cause more destruction in the area. We weren't getting to Portland and Seattle numbers yet, so always room for growth.

I'm assuming Abbot will sit back in his mansion and allow this?

3
OhLollyLollyPop 3 points ago +3 / -0

The techies will think twice about going out with that group. They were a bunch of nitwits.

10
Pirate_Lafitte 10 points ago +10 / -0

That's how you know the guy was a fucking commie at heart - of all the guns he could have chose to try and terrorize fellow Americans, he chose the one originally manufactured in the Soviet Union.

Fully semi-automatic unsilenced assault rifle.

5
Marble68 5 points ago +5 / -0

So, for the left, what makes a rifle an assault rifle is who's wielding it...

If it's a lefty killed while holding it, it's just a rifle.

if it's anyone else, it's an assault rifle.

5
hypebeast420 5 points ago +5 / -0

Austin isn't Seattle. Can't do that shit here.

I refuse to allow the left to own Austin. Austin is great! Huge veteran's community out here, Infowars MRAPs trolling people, great nightlife, and lots of gun ranges. I choose to hold the line here.

A tactical assault weapon with the thingy that goes on top

4
MythArcana 4 points ago +4 / -0

All of a sudden, just like that, the left LOVES white males with rifles. Amazing.

PodunkTexas 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not too far up the I-35 from Austin but thinking maybe Rogers may be my next move. :-) Was in Austin visiting last week and took a trip (during the day) down 6th street to see what was left. Not much there now... just graphitti, broken windows and homeless beggars. Used to be a good Irish place up on 4th as I remember but didn't stick around long enough to go looking for it.

It takes a thoughtful brain to notice. Most people just listen and repeat. That is literally what public school is about. Listen to me, memorize, and regurgitate. It should be no surprise.
