We need to get you an "arm brace" on there. You should check and see if they're in "stock"

You didn't build that.

Sure I did, if you have any build related questions fire away. I'm not even sure what you're suggesting here lol.

He is goofing on Obama's statement. I do have some questions since that looks like an AR pistol and that is what I am looking to build/buy: 300 blackout subsonic home/perimeter defense. Suggestions for the build or contrary suggestions?

Please describe! I want this.

Depends on your experience putting together lowers. If you have the basic armorers tools which I'd consider pin and punch, tap hammer and castle nut wrench plus the desire to get in there and assemble those functioning components then I would recommend that 💯 over buying a complete lower receiver.

If you're a bit more advanced than that you can play around with upper assemblies but that is where I (usually) prefer to go with a complete assembled piece... there are so many out there you will have ALL the options. Pay attention to barrel manufacturer/length, and see what weight buffer is recommended for that to run smoothly.

Choose your optics set up and trigger wisely. I also like to run my ARs with an extended bolt release, this one is a Phase 5 (ebr v3), can't recommend those enough!

Datamancer 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thanks. No experience at all so the AR pistol will be my first and given the price for some of them I want to build it out right the first time. Any manufacturers you recommend and any you would avoid? I think I would prefer to build from parts rather than get a complete weapon so I can optimize the build.

ICantREEEE [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I wouldn't avoid any, people talk smack on lower receiver manufacturer's but they're practically all from the same forge.

Parts are different, they are all very unique but they're so simple it's hard to fuck up. So, once you start parts shopping just pay attention to all the reviews you will find for the part you are looking at from each manufacturer and just let those steer you.

Brownells.com has been helpful to me for many years they're practically an Amazon for gun people, but you can find parts and reviews elsewhere too!

First build depending on what you think you may like for a trigger , if you're okay with a run of the mill or middle of the road trigger just use whatever comes in a parts kit but DO buy a lower parts kit. They have "enhanced" lpk's too they MAY be worth it depending on your choice.

You can get basic armorers hammer tool on Amazon or your local gun supply retailer, you need that castle nut wrench too and a pin punch kit can help you avoid some of the more frustrating parts of putting a lower together.

Finally, this part no one tells you, shit is spring loaded to a T. There are some parts that may shoot out the first time you try this and pound you in the head. That "oops kit" I mentioned is available because... springs, detents (you're not going to love those), minor small parts can and do easily get lost often and for everyone.

Other than that it is all so much fun and can be very addicting so well best of luck!

I bought a roll pin punch kit just to have that's dedicated to my guns plus it's coated finish and shape that reduce chance of marring the finish.

I wanted to build an ar9 (which this is) so I've paired it here with a foxtrot Mike FM9 u/r.

Lower was a bit of a passion project, grabbed the stripped American flag Anderson from a local vet owned gun shop, then I needed select fire markings and a line engraved for the flag color fill. Lower $50 + $35 custom engraving great price all in for what I wanted it to be.

I had some spare parts left in the safe, takedown pins, springs, misc shit so I just bought an ar15 "oops" kit from brownells for 10 bucks vs a complete lower parts kit.

Daniel Defense pistol grip was unique to me since it included a built in trigger guard, I hadn't seen that and I liked the LEO textured look so I went for it.

Wanted the steel / contrast on the mag drop plus matches with Fostech binary trigger. Shelled out for nice optic (Steiner MRS) and the ridiculous trigger.

Already had the MS1 QD sling so that popped right onto the enhanced buffer setup which included a QD endplate. Running an extra heavy buffer because they recommend one and the 9mm mags are 5.56 with endomag conversion kit ☄

PTK AFG was sort of a lucky find, no one in town can keep afgs on their shelves right now so when I found it I just snagged it, I have magpul afg on my large cal pistol carbine.

I like having balls draped on my face.

We know about your big Mike goggles

Formerlurker92 3 points ago +3 / -0

Neat. That's a nice looking gun

Memebomber 2 points ago +2 / -0

How do you like the ambi bolt catch?

1
ICantREEEE [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I love them. Phase 5 is my preferred go to, I had a bad lever few years ago and ditched it in favor of these it replaces the whole bolt catch whereas the magpul "bolts" more like clips onto it, not nearly as clean

Damn I'm jelly 😩

Im liking the positioning of the pew pew selector!! Would that be equipped with one them fancy binary triggers?!?! Lol!!! Very nice!

Yup! My first one. I'm liking it so far but only time will tell as she breaks in 😁

Who's lower?

3
ICantREEEE [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's an Anderson lower, I had the line lasered on locally and back filled with color myself 👍

2
I_Love_45-70_Gov 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ahh, thanks. Nice and clean rig.

I built a 6.5 Grendel pistol. Once I figure out how to add image files, I'll post it.

Struggling with the legality of the angled foregrip. Resend like a gray area that is ripe to prosecute law abiding citizens in the near future. But it would be nice on my plr-16. Will probably settle for a hand stop.

1
ICantREEEE [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Them boys are weird about their laws, you could put on a hand stop and they'll say if a person grips it a certain way that it's suddenly a vfg. All we can do is rely on the letters for guidance and currently they state that angled is okay. IF that changes, well we can easily adjust!

We're on the verge of seeing changes in federal restrictions and policy. Depending how hard the pendulum swings this time to the right we could see more protections forvour freedoms and a lessening of restrictions on our equipment up to and including a repeal on parts of the NFA 🤞🤞 so many new gun owners and they will have their own interests in mind finally at the ballot box

subtlebrush 1 point ago +1 / -0

The idea that I could be a felon because I missed a memo seems pretty tyrannical and unfortunately not unlikely. I really want an afg though.

2
Magaman_2 2 points ago +2 / -0

shockwave blade would be nice

2
ICantREEEE [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah the price point was nice on them too, but it uses a proprietary buffer tube and I'm already running Mil-spec

I don't have 300blk, I went with a 458 socom on my first ar pistol. There are a lot of reviews and articles to help though in designing that caliber. Your purpose will guide your choices.

Do you want a long range hunting rifle for hogs? Or a short-mid range personal defense weapon? Long barrels get you longer distances, they also lesson the amount of recoil you will feel.

Look into the silencers and try to narrow it down to a couple, read other people's positive reviews and see if they recommend any certain barrel length/manufacturer. That is a Steiner Micro Reflex Sight and I love it so far.

Then I'd go with a pretty short barrel depending on what suppressor plans are for the future. They may recommend a minimum length for the gases to be able to do their thing properly or to prolong the life of the can.

Plus a reasonable angled grip so you can manage the recoil on that although it should be less than 7.62, you're still taming a rifle size recoil into a pistol.

Honestly, since you're already going the tax stamp route on the shush unit, you might also consider registering a lower receiver as an SBR and just loading a stock on there when it's approved. Just my two cents!

1
LoneWolfsBigIgloo 1 point ago +1 / -0

Except it's the blue lives that keep you from putting a vertical grip or stock on that without giving money

2
ICantREEEE [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

No it's actually not

1
LoneWolfsBigIgloo 1 point ago +1 / -0

Then who? Law enforcement is who enforces gun laws

1
ICantREEEE [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I do not credit the NFA to LEOs. As for federal enforcement - Are you completely new to ATF memes? Bc there's a bevy of beautiful and brilliant memes about our alphabet boys

1
LoneWolfsBigIgloo 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes there is federal law enforcement, but was it the ATF who confiscated the McClosky's firearms? Is it ATF that commits stop and frisk? Is it ATF who makes issues out of transporting firearms or legally conceal carrying at a traffic stop? While they didn't write the NFA, LEO's still enforce it and other infringements on the second.
