The Gransfors Bruk Small Forest Axe is way more than just a simple "hatchet". Very nice!

NeptunesBeard [S] 5 points ago +5 / -0

it is a great axe.

I thought that sexy profile looked familiar.

Wranglestar would be proud

Visolatte 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agree. I keep one in the car, whether I am camping or not. I always think, as I pound in a stake with it, that it is a work of art. Then I think that it would be a crime not to use it as it was meant to be used.

To cut down trees and clear brush?

Sirbigusdickus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Correct: you can circumcise an entire yeshiva and it wont loose its edge.

Nice hatchet bro. Been obsessing about shotguns lately. Have 2 but obviously there's infinite options.

Just got a shotshell press to start reloading since buckshot and slugs are impossible to find

4
NavyGuy 4 points ago +4 / -0

Cast your own slugs. Lots of places to get free or cheap lead if you know where to look. Not difficult to learn either. Lee pro 4, 20lb smelting pots are like $75. Get some lead flux, a casting thermometer, and a 12 guage slug mold and your off to the races.

Or just use a hammer and some flex tape till it's good enough. Results may vary. Poster is not responsible for any death or loss or limbs that may occur. Contact your doctor if death occurs and discontinue at once.

Such a good scene and movie. I always carry a hatchet in the front seat floor of my car. Always take when when I’m out in the woods.

Has so many uses other than cutting wood and scalps.

definitelyright 2 points ago +2 / -0

lmao I commented before seeing yours. Great minds think alike haha

2
NeptunesBeard [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

love that movie!

How else do you expect to harvest the scalps and ears of our enemies and to adorn yourself with these trophies in honor of the eternal fight against Communism?

What are some good ways to improve the gripping surface of axes etc? Some have shiny smooth handles and pigskin gloves get slippery smooth too.

6
NeptunesBeard [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

to be honest a little bit of dirt/clay will work. kinda like a baseball bat

3
Richard_Friedman 3 points ago +3 / -0

Resin too.

5
AlcoholicRetard 5 points ago +5 / -0

Hockey tape

4
NavyGuy 4 points ago +4 / -0

I've never found a issue with grip on any of my axes. Guess it depends on the size and weight of the axle and what you are using if for.

3
Work2gethrBiglyOrDie 3 points ago +3 / -0

The slippery coating they put on the wood is what gives me trouble, and smooth plastic handle on an old machete I inherited.

wiombims 2 points ago +2 / -0

Nyet, hatchet is fine. You can rough sand and impregnate the grime with linseed oil using small circular motions then let dry and slightly sand again with finer grit, this time blow away the dust and rub again for a beautiful second linseed finish. That's a traditional approach. I also like axes with fiberglass handles. They are not tomahawks or francisca so maybe those are more your style.

1
NavyGuy 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you dont care about how it looks hit it up with some fine grain sandpiper making cross patterns. I have hands like vice grips so it's not an issue. Just practice more.

3
WestPalm 3 points ago +3 / -0

Chequer it...git yer favorite k'nife out and practice making a nice tight cross hatch pattern...refinish with some linseed oil when done.

Take great inspiration from The Patriot: Aim small, miss small. A hatchet or tomahawk is great for redcoats trying to run away when youre empty!

NavyGuy 4 points ago +4 / -0

Giving me visions of mel Gibson from the patriot in the middle of an antifa mob going ape shit

That Magpul stock is awesome. I recently got one for my Mossy. It's so damn comfortable.

4
NeptunesBeard [S] 4 points ago +4 / -0

agreed.. i love it!

4
Olschoolponcho 4 points ago +4 / -0

Need to see more like this. Ive always wanted a medieval warhammer or mace.

3
NeptunesBeard [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

for sure i love old weapons. a warhammer would be so cool

Magpul furniture gives me the vapors. Beautiful gun, and that hatchet looks sharp enough to split a hair.

I'm really digging this combo!

3
NeptunesBeard [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

yeah. i love sunday gunday. i would like to see more firearms displayed with blades or older style weapons

3
bastosmichael 3 points ago +3 / -0

Going for a The Patriot vibe?

3
SoAngryRanger 3 points ago +3 / -0

This guy ranges.

  1. Let the enemy come 'till he's almost close enough to touch. Then let him have it and jump out and finish him up with your hatchet.
1
NeptunesBeard [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

haha. berserker style. lets hope not. but i would rather swing a hatchet than a knife.

2
NavyGuy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Full tang katana work nice too. 🤫

3
RandallSavage 3 points ago +3 / -0

Light and a sling, good man

3
NeptunesBeard [S] 3 points ago +3 / -0

yes. its best to see what you are shooting at. and a sling is super handy for many reasons.

2
SquatchNDenver 2 points ago +2 / -0

so do the BLM marches count as a zombie apocalypse? i mean they are sort of still alive...any help here?...asking for a fren!

2
wiombims 2 points ago +2 / -0

No. The police are right there to arrest you in case the protesters don't succeed in bludgeoning or shooting you. This is more like Half Life where the combine/SF are a bigger danger to you than the headcrabs and walking dead. Colt Python and rocket launcher are always the answer.

Hi Shotty

1
SANTONUCCI 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ha ha... it's funny how many of us are axe people!

The Stubai axe I bought is a pretty serviceable axe for $35. I stripped the handle and faceted it into an octagon for a better grip. Shiny coatings are the work of the devil.

Choppy chop bang bang

Pelosi_Halitosis 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've thought of getting a wranglergoof axe, but have yet to mangle some nice farm finds. Helps I prefer chain and hydraulics, but they come in handy.

1
KilroyJCNJ 1 point ago +1 / -0

NM I found it in a comment further down.

I have a Gransfors camp axe. Thought you’re looked familiar!

1
XZLR8N 1 point ago +1 / -0

The hatchet must be so you don't have to call the police...just platter then scatter the bad guy about your property
