THIRD PARTIES lose elections. A CAUCUS, on the other hand, reform a broken party from within while not sacrificing the balance of power. The Democratic party has been taken over from within by a number of far left caucuses. This is how the GOP needs to be fixed. A MAGA caucus. A Tea Party Caucus, A Constitutionalist caucus. A single or small collection of conservative activist groups that push the party back to counterbalance the left.
Anything else is just handing them power.
I mean get rid of the GOP, change the name, restructure, yes almost like you said, I am not talking about a small 3rd party. I am talking about shift the focus now to preserving American heritage and rights, and control what people they choose to back based on these principles.
I understand the sentiment, but consider how successful AOC has been as a kingmaker within the Democrat party. As much as people are inclined to dismiss her, she has proven that a radical shift of power can occur within a party while maintaining it's branding. She (and Bernie) knows a Communist Party will have a more difficult time winning elections. But they have been so very successful in placing like minded Congressmen and women that Pelosi is following her party instead of leading it.
Trump has been attempting the same thing. He has played kingmaker in a number of key elections and had been very successful at swinging races. He needs to keep going after RINOs in Primary races. He's performed a major restructuring of the Federal judiciary - including balancing the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
On the other hand - if a third part swings Senate control to the Democrats they would re-impeach Trump and Pass it through the Senate with a simple majority.
The Tea Party was a movement within the GOP to reform without a destructive loss of seats. It was a solid idea at the time. I love Sarah Palin but the movement ran out of gas and she has all but disappeared. A MAGA caucus with Trump as it's champion could work.
We are playing for keeps. No Dems win ever. We do not scrap the GOP, we methodically and patiently clean house.
Reform from within is the part of the great Western tradition. However when the powers-that-be inside the party and a significant number of the ranking members are simply tools of the Uniparty, not sure reform from within is possible.
The D's and R's will just make rules making it impossible to compete.
I mean rename GOP to MAGA - Keep the name Republican - Restructure based on the original interpretation of the continental congress of our bill of rights, and instead of a mission to free slaves, make their mission to keep the slaves that have been freed free, as well as stop us from falling back into slavery. There should be rules for candidacy under the new party as in a new oath to protect the original interpretations and defend the constitution from terrorist, domestic and foreign-funded insurrections, try to pass laws that protect us from this in the future. The name change will also help with any brainwashed stereotypes of the republican party. People love MAGA, and Trump, they could care less about an Old Party in a modern world.

If it is laid out exactly as that, to defend what America is above all else. The people who join will be the best America has to offer.
The R's will never give up any real power to President Trump. It will have to be changed from the outside. Votes.

My secret hope is that after getting elected, Trump starts his own political party. He will be in his second term and owe literally nothing to the GOP who, at best, did nothing to help him while individual RINOs worked actively against him.
So once he gets elected on their ticket, he can ditch them, form a new party and poach the best from both sides of the aisle. He'll have four years and a mid-term election cycle to build enough momentum that the following election will be a real three-way race and perhaps break the duopoly that has plagued this country for decades.
I say this all the time. don't let the generation live with the "supposed" stigma of either party.
