Many TV shows perfectly encapsulate this phenomenon. "The 100" "Fear the Walking Dead" etc. The protagonists go from society to society sowing resentment, discord, and violence, trashing everything in their wake for 10 seasons.
I don't own a TV. But I am aware of these "shows" and have seen bits and pieces of them here and there. And I don't understand the appeal. I prefer old sci-fi from the 70's and 80's, myself.
