I am down for UBI myself. Nothing wrong with it imo. But for it to work, we remove all funding for social securities and unemployment, schooling, etc and we put it into the UBI. Let the people decide where they want to invest their UBI in. I think my method is too crazy and not many would like it, but hey, I'm not running for president anyway.
It doesn't work. There is a huge class of people that would just not work, view the results when a county in canada gave UBI a try. Disastrous. Stupid idea that won't work. Worse than social security.
The way they did UBI was shit. They had in mind that everyone can have social benefits and eat their cake too. There is no incentive.
My idea of UBI would remove funding from schools, social securities, welfare, medicare, etc. All those government agencies which handle that crap would be gone and would overall save the country money. Not to mention since there is a lot of redundancy in government, giving it to the people would be more efficient. Now that everyone is entitled to this money, you can either spend it on your own welfare, or you can use it to buy food or a place to stay. You have to choose which benefits you think are more important, and then spend it accordingly.
Now you say, "how come I can't get all the benefits?"
You can, you just get a job. lol.
It's probably a bad approach and I would need to see what other problems it would come across against, but it would separate the stupid people from the smart people on how they would invest their UBI. But hey, only the strong/smart would survive, and the stupid who haven't invested in their own health probably won't make it.
Go try it in a county in wyoming or something, once you've destroyed the productivity of the community, hopefully you'll wake up.
The idiots (you) who go all in on UBI have absolutely no standing to completely redo our system with something that has only failed each and every time they've tried it on a small scale.
Like I said in other comments. If they are going to live comfortably at home, then they won't be able to afford schooling, medicare, etc if UBI was used the way I proposed. These neets would be effectively removed from the social safety net since they would rather spend their UBI on on food and housing instead.
It's not like they would have contribute to society in the first place. Let them stay in their cages, while the strong will thrive and remain a productive part of society.
Give the funding to the parents instead of school. Parents can use it to feed themselves, but the smart ones know to invest it into the school of their choosing. A small part of the UBI that I dream of.
Trump doesn't want UBI. Trump wants to give teacher salaries to the parents because they'll essentially be doing the same job and thus deserve the same pay
It may be his intention, but for myself, I would use the money provided as freedom to choose what I want to do with it, as would everyone else. I don't need the government's involvement in what I should do with the money. The more control I have with my tax payer's dollars, the better I am.

You think I care about these neets, these moochers surviving? If they are weak, they will remain poor. Only the strong will become rich, and the weak shall die off whether it is from being poor, or dying do to lack of health care. This is a concept fundamental to of social darwinism, which I am a strong supporter of. Unlike what this country is heading to with affirmative action, where people are rewarded based on the color of their skin, this country should reward merit like it once used to. This can be done by scrapping the social services and returning it as money to the people via UBI.

But I am really digging my idea on scrapping all social services and giving it to the people as a form of UBI. I know not many people agree with my views on here or on reddit, but I just want to put it out there. haha
