Nope. There are zero semiautomatic AK-47s. The AKM variant is a revision to the 1947 model. The slant muzzle brake is designed to fight either rifle's tendency to rise to the left (iirc, might be right) when fired.
Somewhere there is a brief guide on the differences, but I don't recall slant brake being one of them.
but for all practical purposes if you you're talking about an actual ak47 you will say, a full auto ak47. If someone says ak47 in general, it is almost always assumed to be the semi-auto ak variant.

Current story being told by the police is that the first 5 shots were from the driver and the second set were from another protester firing at the car as it fled. They've apparently recovered 3 guns from the scenes, because both shooters apparently turned themselves in.
Two rounds, 3 different weapons. The rifle rounds he shot at the car, the response fire from the driver's handgun, and then another protester shot at the car as it fled.
According to the police recounting of events, and as told by the driver, he fired first and Garrett didn't fire, merely pointed the gun at the driver.
That's the most recent information.
We'll have to wait and see if we get the driver to speak out publicly, or if they release information on whether Garrett's gun was discharged, and what the caliber of the driver's gun was.

It was far game on his ass as the car driver had to defend himself. He was unlawful and the car driver was lawful in discharging of their firearms. Nothing to do with either of them carrying said weapons.
Sadly he gave an interview (before he died) and it was clear he and his commie mates were doing these for days. As in stopping traffic whenever they felt like it. And so he is dead because he thought he was a hardman (in front of his commie fellow commie scum) and thought he was the law.
