If I'm feeling extra saucy, I might make it public, momentarily, during november. Otherwise it's a lose lose game.

I work in DC for a big law firm.

Don't do it.

Yeah, the situation is bad. Large clients like to do things like background checks and investigative social media snooping. I have to keep "personal" vs "publicly visible" accounts, because for some insane reason, developing web software is a highly political job.

and to tack on, "colleagues" are actually the "real" problem. My industry, I don't understand what happened.

Programming conferences now have as many if not more sessions on 'diversity' as code

I spoke with another Pede the other day.

He was disappointed that the RNC in JAX got cancelled. I get it but it's crap like that which keeps the current situation a lose-lose scenario in outing yourself.

We'll best serve by keeping things under wraps. Later on when we're skilled enough or important enough to be asked to serve in the administration, or for his son, then we'll step in.

Your husband's description is accurate. "Fall in line, or get in the unemployment line" is never spoken out loud, but is implied it's palpable.

I ask myself that constantly....

The majority of developers and programmers.... aren't very good, and should have never gotten into comp sci.

I honestly think this is a result of them pushing anyone/everyone into computer science.

Colleagues and various types of clients do their best to make life difficult for conservatives in the tech space unfortunately. Exposing myself as a conservative could impact not just my own job prospects, but the people who work with me.

I understand... Didn’t know showing love for your country and for our lovely president is a crime.

He really is my favorite president <3

Big tech. Sister works under the umbrella of Amazon. She's been told to keep any political opinions that might trigger negative attention on social media private as she's recognized as part of the company. The interpretation, because it's not outright condemning sharing of political views, is that "negative" is anything right wing.

Bingo bongo.

Any sort of conservatism is labeled as "hate speech" by the left, and they've gone so far as to actually punish people for it. It's all made up, and it's all insane.

Right there with you bro. No need to make public pronouncements.

I think the fact that we don't force public announcements, is part of the reason we're in this situation. We're not standing up for ourselves, and we still sort of 'can't' unless we have the backing of all of our brothers and sisters in the industry.

Social media didn't exist just a few years ago. Share you opinion in person with people that know you. That's how you make impact, with the people you have a good reputation with. You're not going to "win" anyone online.

I've actually won over multiple people, both online and off, who's world's are upside down because they've had me in their ear narrating all of the events of the past 4 years.

The fake polls are faker than they were in 2016. There are very few liberals I've met in person or online in my social circles, that have "confidence" in Biden or the democratic party.

They were still upset over bernie getting off roaded in 2016, now they're watching riots and local store fronts busted up as democrats call to defund the police.

Many people I've talked to, have gone to the position that they will either abstain entirely, or actually pull the lever for Trump. I'm making way more inroads to people's minds this cycle than I did in 2016, thankfully.

Man, 20 years ago Silicon Valley had a very libertarian culture. It's crazy that it's now become batshit crazy left.

I don't understand how it happened. The stereotype for us programmers went from suit and ties at big blue, to basement dwellers, to now skinny jeans and lattes.

Watching it happen is actually pretty terrifying, b/c I do not feel welcome at most "developer conference", as the focus is no longer on code, but diversity.
