We can't know if these individuals would have done any better with more HCQ their first two days. I haven't seen what I consider to be the most relevant info for those who are more severely affected: how long before medication, how sick, what comorbidities? (Age is a comorbidity)
Anyway this showed to be a 97.4% reduction in death as compared to the National average at the time. These results were duplicated in Brazil, completely without his help. They just followed his protocol. This is significant because science is repeatable, among other things.
The study in Brazil that has now been retracted gave 2400 mg HCQ per day. 2000 mg is a fatal dose! Nothing about that was science, medical care, or ethical. Likewise the VA study gave a toxic dose and was discontinued when toxicity was discovered. Papers about that study have also been retracted.
