If he believes Jesus is just a man, then any number of other men claiming to be the Messiah (there were roughly 60 or so over the course of Israel's occupation by the Romans) would have taken His place and been the martyr that founded the start of Christianity. So his idea fails. And of course if Jesus wasn't just a man, then he would have been impossible to assassinate because he would have had divine protection, "theologically speaking":
