Last night around 10pm after 7 hours of poker I ran into a local big chain grocery (HEB).
Without thinking, I had left my mask in the truck.
So I'm now DEEP into the store when this woman looks at me and gasps! Oh my goodness... I don't have my mask. And she points at me and literally screams -- WHERE IS YOUR MASK?
I shook my head. I said OOPS, I FORGOT IT...because I was already right next to what I wanted (wine) and I always use the self checkout anyway (zero contact).
So I'm rushing to the checkout -- and get mask-shamed twice more. WHERE'S YOUR MASK? One guy asked. I should have punched him.
Then a blue haired, tatted, hippo of a young woman said -- YOU REALIZE HOW STUPID AND SELFISH YOU'RE ACTING?
I said: do you have any clue how brainwashed you are?
I got to the checkout. I got the robot handler (there are 10 or so self checkouts than need to be managed) to okay my ID for the wine purchase, and I got out of there with no further incident.

If you don't want confrontation just 'medical condition' and carry on with your business.
I don't look very "medical condition-y" -- athletic and usually wearing gym shoes, etc. -- but I could give it a try.
