I believed your story until you say they didn't say the same stupid shit again, from my experience they just don't learn.

They'll pull the same stunt again and again and not learn from the last beating you gave them, these people are ideologically posessed so they don't react like normal people would when they're exposed to the fact that they've been lied to and are spreading lies.
