It's not who you are or how you behave or what skills and ingenuity you bring to the table, it's what you are and how many like you are "represented" and thus it's pretty much illegal to make a TV show without a strong independent black womyn, a snarky lesbian that don't need no man, a tech geek girl with an Adam's apple and 5 o'clock shadow, the savvy and peaceful Islamic nuclear physicist, and the well-tamed, mildly-effeminate bespectacled white male whose job is to defer to all of the above and not speak unless spoken to.
