To my best knowledge Japanese had slaves only in far ancient times; other periods there are forced labour stuff for criminals (siminlar to those of China/Korea labor camps) but that's another nature.
Then there's a crap period around WWII with comfort woman and slavery in conquered Asia (to which NUKING Japan became the appropriate response). But overall their culture on ancient slavery is not nearly as prevailant as Muslim countries.
Japan had slaves for over a thousand years, laborers, house slaves, and they sold their own women to Europeans as sex slaves. Long after their slave trade ended, they used civvies, POWs, and whoever they could get as forced labor during WWII.
true enough. i wonder if the japanese had slaves. or samoans.
"Comfort women."
Look up that phrase, and you'll have your answer.
