The Great & Lesser pyramid are built differently than the rest, with far superior building skills and technology. I think a previous civ build the greater pyramid, lesser pyramind and possibly sphinx, and the other pyramids are attempts to recreate it.

If I recall correctly from what I studied about it a long time ago, there is nothing on earth right now that can cut the rock they used (limestone?) that smooth except possibly lasers.

They also got the limestone from across the river. That whole thing's a damn mystery. And yeah, it's very likely that the pyramids and Sphinx are even 11,000+ years old (check out water erosion on the Sphinx, last time rain was around the desert was a long freaking time ago). The work of Graham Hancock and geologist Robert Schoch.

That lady who proved there was water erosion on the sphinx said she believes some of the unidentified remains at the base of the Sphinx used to be a network of hollow limestone boxes, and they would fill them with lights (candles? lamps?) to create wings of fire. Pretty freaking cool!

Same deal with Peru, etc. No way Mexicans and South Americans built al that stuff. Or if they did there must have been some massive cataclysmic event that put them back 1000 years but there is no evidence for that.
