mostly just because it always was that way, + they want to avoid people spam editing their titles once posts blow up. but many have said that a 2-5 minute window should exist at the beginning of a post.

Trolls will post something that will get a lot easy upvotes then if it hits the front page they will edit the title and contents to something racist in an attempt to make us look bad.
