I am on my way to visit my wife’s side of the family who are very faithful and devoted Christians. In fact, it was their family that converted me to one. However, being very apolitical and thus having done zero research, they have bought into the MSM narrative in firmly believing that Trump is a horrible person by every standard. In the very likely chance that it’s brought up, how should I go about explaining the truth to them in the least confrontational way possible?
Since they are very faithful people of God, it should be easy to let them know that Trump and the Republican Party actually have the values that aligns with them. But being so apolitical It is actually really hard to come in from the politic’s perspective . So for once I actually believe I’d cover more ground from a religious angle.

This is a really important matter to me, since as a new Christian I am encouraged to tell the truth to the best that I can, but it’s really hard to do so going against the beliefs of those that converted me in the first place. I’d hate for my love for the president to be a rift between our otherwise loving family. I’ve been on the road and tired as shit, maybe feeling extra vulnerable as a result. Having you guys backing me up is like an adrenaline shot straight to the heart.
DON'T try to portray DJT as having always been moral, religious, or anything like that. Obviously. DO concede that in 2016 there was dubious moral virtue, if you need to.
His character development since being elected surpasses anything I've ever seen, including in fiction. I attribute this in large part to many praying for him. We have such pictures posted.
General Patton was successful where every other General failed because he had "pre-civilized values." This is why he was hated despite getting results. Trump shares this, per Victor Davis Hanson of Hillsdale College, the only safe place I'm aware of for a conservative to get an education. If they have to hold their nose to vote for him, the results are worth it. The contrast to Biden in Office is extreme; might be a weak argument with these people? Idk. Allegations of racism are unfounded: MSM never said anything about this prior to 2014! Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali didn't say this when they accepted an award for helping inner city youth alongside him. DJT sought out black people to give business loans to. If they succeeded he turned it into a gift, foregoing repayment. If they failed he expected repayment, which motivated hard work. If that hard work met with success, he forgave the loan. He hired black women to top executive positions. This one area of fact should be important to any Christian, and could be enough to get them to question the entire OrangeManBad narrative.
I grew up near DJT but on the other side of the tracks. My Dad is a little older than him, my Brother a little younger. He still uses lingo and mannerisms of the era, which were always quirky and now outdated. I may be able to help by giving insight on specific problem mannerisms or statements.
Generally speaking, his actions are great; we should concern ourselves much more with that than his words which have many times been less than great. Even so, there are far fewer instances of that in the last 2 years than there were in 2017-18.

(Full written statement or speech) Comparing media lies this way they should become MUCH more concerned with DNC debauchery than they ever with with DJT, who has always been sincere or joking. Good luck. But maybe they need to recheck the book of Job. God has a plan, it is action everyday, even if we do not understand it. The Lord sends the tools and heros we need, not the ones we want, as we are fallible.
If they are pushing you to talk about it, just pick one reason, and act as if that reason is the only thing that matters to you, and it is something that you wont compromise on. They can't fault you for having convictions prior to making a political decision. The hot button issue would be to say that you think the protests are violent and dangerous and that you don't believe democrats would protect you from that if it ever came to your doorstep. Then make this the one issue that you absolutely will not waiver on. If you venture into too many issues you will get flanked from all sides, so try to keep it simple.
Well appealing to their religious sensibilities should be easy. The Democrats are the party of degenerates, drug abusers, baby murderers, and moral relativity. Sure the GOP is imperfect but considering the alternative it becomes an easier pill to swallow. In the long run the GOP needs to be more than 'not Dems' but for now it will do.

A pro-Life stance can be a single vote issue for some Christians I know. Maybe it is for you too-- so tell them something like that. Secondly I would go easy on some of these strongly conditioned lefties, use soft tones and light suggestions, nothing too serious. No one had a bad thing to say about Mr. Trump until he ran for office. And President Trump is the most honest president since Abe, he'll tell you how he feels, he won't back down, and he loves the country.
