Yes, masks are stupid and ineffective. Ditto goggles. But vaccines? Taking the off-ramp there. Vaccines work.
Side note: no, vaccines should not be "mandatory". No need. If a large percentage of the population does get vaccinated, the spread of the disease is vastly reduced. Herd immunity frequently eradicates a disease even when a lot of people haven't been vaccinated against it.
Insufficient public attention. The amount of effort put in by health authorities isn't enough to eradicate. People just kind of don't care about the flu. "Hey boss, I gotta call in sick, I got the flu, see ya in a week".
I think we can agree, CV has got the public's attention. :) Once the election is over, and CV is no longer useful as a political weapon against Trump, state and local politicians will stomp out CV hard and fast in order to get their economies opened back up and get tax revenue coming in.

I hear you. But I’m very skeptical that vaccines are needed in this situation, and I’m even more skeptical about the people being given authority to create/deliver them. But I do not downplay the validity of vaccines in general. It’s just this particular situation and all the lies, selective truths, and unnecessary measures.

Something to keep in mind, however: the doctors who favor the usage of HCQ, and are trying to develop a vaccine? Those people ARE trustworthy, because they're refusing to obey the "stop Trump at any cost narrative". That narrative wants the pandemic to continue--and get worse. Anybody who favors a vaccine is probably not afflicted with TDS and is probably trustworthy.

This is the problem with the flu and potentially covid vaccine. There are going to be many variants. Are we expected to take dozens of covid vaccines?
