Fire the teachers. DRAMATICALLY restructure the Department of Education to shift focus from a PUBLIC-ONLY enterprise to an overarching regulational body for Americas Education as a whole. Public schools make sense in certain places, Private schools make more sense in most others. Let the free market set up schools the way they WANT to, let the DOE worry about making sure standards and safety are up to par. That will DEFINATELY mean sweeping changes in leadership across the educational universe, and huge changes to the types of security installed in poor demographic schools.
