In place long enough for a Trump supporter to see it rather than the update. Then another useful idiot can skirt the argument with a pointless technicality like they usually do.
This is all about optics for DeWine. Meanwhile, we still have a state-wide mask mandate. Just because he did the right thing, doesn’t mean he’s not still a garbage politician.
The left is the one who makes it political. I remember I commented on a post on Reddit that children should not be used as political pawns for BLM. I was downvoted and someone replied to me saying that if I think racism is a political issue, I am the problem.
I just say, I’m on fucking r/PoliticalHumor. YOU made it political, and are now turning around and telling me not to make it a political issue because I don’t agree, after you were the one who made it political in the first place? Fuck off. Trump2020.
Doesn't matter if they carry the 'weight of law', only that they have found a way to manipulate our health care rights in an un-elected but very effective way.
Medical Boards carry the weight of your MD losing their license or being professionally disciplined. Both cost the MD money; by losing their job or having their insurance rates/supplies membership/professional audits - go up.
In this way, the un-elected Medical Boards are creating 'public policy' indirectly, but with the same consequences/power as legislation.
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy can issue "rules" that are essentially "laws". I can also speak to Maryland and Pennsylvania but they are also the same. It's very important for states to be able issue these as drugs come onto and off the market all the time and new advances in medicine can happen very quickly.
In layman's terms, it allowed for use of HCQ to treat Covid-19 but it banned its use as prevention and banned its use in presumptive cases. You needed a positive test to have it prescribed.
All but one regular member of the Board in Ohio is a licensed pharmacist. The problem was that it was an emergency order from the executive director who is an attorney, not a pharmacist. DeWine intervened so the director rescinded the emergency order but it most likely would have been voted down at the August meeting.
Just an explanation...it was the Ohio Board of Pharmacy that told pharmacists not to distribute. I think the governor is stepping in to counter that move.
Note that the tactic here is not to directly interfere with medical practice but to inhibit material access. It's the same thing they're doing with with all the 2A infringement.
It was banned for use for prophylactic purposes by emergency order of the executive director of the Board or Pharmacy with the rule to be voted on by the board members at the August meeting.
Crap like this is what happens when you have things like the Board of Pharmacy being lead by an attorney instead of someone with health credentials.
WRONG. It was banned for BOTH preventative use AND treatment of covid in Ohio as per the initial message sent from the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
On July 30, 2020, rule 4729:5-5-21 of the Administrative Code goes into effect. In general, the rule prohibits all terminal distributors (including prescriber clinics, non-resident pharmacies, and institutional facilities) from selling or dispensing hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19 [see paragraph (B) below]
Okay, I read it. Still not sure what I'm missing. It says it's banned for use in treatment or prevention of covid unless part of a clinical trial. How are you reading it?
A) Requires a written diagnosis code for prescription. It does not ban it's use for Covid but basically requires a positive test so the physician can then use that code. In a nutshell, it bans it's use in presumptive cases.
probably because the people on the Ohio board of Health that banned it yesterday for the rubes were worried that they would not be able to get it for themselves.
Ohio has the rep to be the highest prescription opioid and benzo drug abuse. I guess the OH government would rather have people OD instead of being cured of COVID-19. Seems right.
This makes me happier as an Ohio resident. It shouldn't have been done in the first place! I still think DeWine is a 🦏 and wtf now about this stupid drinking cut off time at bars. So stupid! But glad to hear we aren't banned from HCQ.
encouraging, but WTH is a 'governor' even involved in PRIVATE MEDICAL decisions between a DOCTOR and their PATIENT?
Because it’s all political at this point

Why are medical "professionals" issuing orders to the public that carry the weight of law?

The public has to live with the consequences.
Sounds like extortion and racketeering to me.
100% Agree. Looking forward to some court cases.
Yes, have you not heard of a 5150?

I wonder what other medicines they're keeping from us.....
Cure for cancer?
Yeah because RBG just looks chock full of life's joy! No thanks... Jesus can take me home before I begin to resemble anything near that...
Whatever they're hiding from us it's probably considered "impossible" from what info we're given.
I e long suspected this
The Lazarus Pill
HCQ was never banned for use in Ohio.
It was banned for use for prophylactic purposes by emergency order of the executive director of the Board or Pharmacy with the rule to be voted on by the board members at the August meeting.

All Disease Policies have been written by lawyers.
Source: I have seen them writing the policies.

Read it for yourself. That is not what it says.

B) bans it as a Prophylaxis
C) exempts clinical trials from B.
Liberals: my body my choice
Also liberals: NO NOT LIKE THAT!!
As I stated previously, my absolute guess is he needed a win so he asked the board to ban HCQ that way he could publicly rescind the ban.
I’m sure I’m not the only one telling my rep to push impeachment of this terrorist
great news.
probably because the people on the Ohio board of Health that banned it yesterday for the rubes were worried that they would not be able to get it for themselves.
Is there a list of states that allow it?
That was a quick U-turn
Guess they didnt feel like having any future lawsuits
Good job to everyone that called his office and voiced your concern!
Why are we celebrating a politician reverses a ban on a life saving treatment option? That is beyond messed up...
Why did it take until now? How many died because of this ban? There is no accountability left in this country.
Ohio has the rep to be the highest prescription opioid and benzo drug abuse. I guess the OH government would rather have people OD instead of being cured of COVID-19. Seems right.
Wow! The government listened! There’s a chance!
Streisand effect anyone?
Our governor is a midget rhino, fuck him. He is being led by a liberal mongoloid “ doctor.”
Wow, uncommon balls out of Ohio.
Now the state can get to working on that obesity problem. 30% is nothing to joke about.

Anyone else tired from the whiplash, getting pretty tired of the BS Pedes.
Our screams were heard
Other medicines that can help...
Zinc Azithromycin Inhaled Budesonide or Dexamethasone Celebrex
This makes me happier as an Ohio resident. It shouldn't have been done in the first place! I still think DeWine is a 🦏 and wtf now about this stupid drinking cut off time at bars. So stupid! But glad to hear we aren't banned from HCQ.
Now do Texas. All at risk people should be able to buy this OTC.
So glad to hear this news!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Don’t worry he thinks the Covid comes out after 10pm at bars. Ridiculous.
So dewine didn't approve it he just reversed a ban set out by board of pharmacology. It's a good step but dewine needs to go further.
No one has to allow it. Any doctor in the US can prescribe it. Find one that isn't a retard who got into medical school on criteria other than merit.
But CVS and Walgreens ask you why you are taking it, like that's their business.
Breaking: MikeDeWine is not a complete idiot!
So he realized he can’t live with dead bodies on his conscience!
let's consult with some doctors before making medical decisions next time.
Well considering you had a shit ton of incoming lawsuits might as well get out of the way.
Wait... we can actually win something?
