WRONG. It was banned for BOTH preventative use AND treatment of covid in Ohio as per the initial message sent from the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
On July 30, 2020, rule 4729:5-5-21 of the Administrative Code goes into effect. In general, the rule prohibits all terminal distributors (including prescriber clinics, non-resident pharmacies, and institutional facilities) from selling or dispensing hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19 [see paragraph (B) below]
Okay, I read it. Still not sure what I'm missing. It says it's banned for use in treatment or prevention of covid unless part of a clinical trial. How are you reading it?
A) Requires a written diagnosis code for prescription. It does not ban it's use for Covid but basically requires a positive test so the physician can then use that code. In a nutshell, it bans it's use in presumptive cases.
