The crazy TP people didn’t need it. They needed to feel in control. If everything goes to hell, at least I’ve got toilet paper for years. Now, it’s masks. I might get it a myriad of different ways, but if I can shame somebody into improving my chances by .04%, well dammit I’m doing it. And I’ll feel so much better about the world.

You're forgetting that these SAME TP/mask nazis are the type of brain-dead scum that will wear them ass backward and upside down, half way down their upper lip.
The one good thing about those masks: it instantly lets you know which of the people around you are stupid.
While I think the masks are stupid and mostly nonsensical, I put one on if i go to the store or whatever. I'm not going to cause issues with some low level employee. The cloth masks on the other hand are absolutely stupid. They don't do shit andi n fact likely increase your chances of catching something.
Eh, I think a lot of patriots have picked a different battle.
I have taken to calling them mouth diapers. The people who are excited about them suddenly do not like them anymore. The change in demeanor is very fun to watch.
