I still have no idea how they can gas light people into telling people that the wall is too expensive. It is a fucking blip in our budget and probably is one of the most important things we have ever done.

A massive publics work project could be centered on it, employing people right now. But noooooooooo.

But let's be real - keeping Pedro out is just part of the function of the wall. It also keeps the cartel's drug runs out, weapon shipments, and allasnackbars creeping in. And congress has been well bribed to make sure that continues to happen.

Democrats and even most “fiscally conservative Republicans” have absolutely no qualms to waste hundreds of billions...of its on shit they like. Democrats have yet to find a social program they don’t like. Republicans have yet to find a new military toy they don’t like and that money just sinks into that bottomless black hole of spending. The Wall though...THAT is a bridge too far for both. Democrats LOVE their Mexican peasants. They can spend billions on new social programs for them and they provide millions in more money for re-districting and their children provide countless free votes. Republicans LOVE their Mexican peasants because it’s thousands upon thousands of free to almost no spending on slave labor in their factories and warehouses. Who suffers? American middle class.

I love your post.

Democrats have yet to find a social program they don’t like.

There's one: free IDs for US citizens.

I made the calculation one time of what it would be for a family with, say, $50K income.

IIRC it came up as around $500, which of course everyone would spend to fix their front door.
