My Ancestors farmed and lived in Parker County. With no slaves. My dad still remembers his sore cotton picking hands.

There is a historical marker on 180 just outside on the way to Mineral Wells. It used to read of the Light Family massacre, now they are mentioned but it has a different title. My great-grandmother was a young girl when her family was attacked by Comanches there on July 4th. Her and only one or two others lived - she saw her parents scalped and murdered, her baby sister's brains bashed out against a tree. My father remembered her telling the story to her grandchildren and showing the scars where she was shot by arrows.

My mother picked cotton out in West Texas as a child, out by Anson.

We sure have some "white privilege", don't we?
